revive the parched soul.
Rest is a gift.

Dog Psalm for Haiti

May humanity save us all.

May grace lift our spirits

and courage accompany us
those trapped and suffering,
those rescuing and hindered.

May we not be voyeurs to suffering

but solutions to catastrophes.

May we each

GIVE

all that we can.

May we recognize and respond to the fact that
Haiti will need our support for many years to come.

May helpers embrace humility.
Haiti is our teacher. Her lesson?
How to begin, yet, again. And again, again.

Great and Holy Spirit
be constantly present with us.
We call upon you.

After all the feasting,

the giving and receiving,

comes the time for reflecting and resting

and deciding how best to carry the Spirit of the season

throughout the new year

Thanksgiving

Let there be gravy and community.

Let there be laughter and music.

Let there be feasting and grazing

and generous table scrap giving.

I am grateful for kindness, comfort and care.

Grateful for naps in the big comfy chair.

WONDERING

How could a mouse carry that enormous

4 armed

man-elephant-deity

Ganesh?

He's hardly 4 inches tall.

He's remarkably sturdy even without feet

but still...

How is it possible? How can I believe?

  

OH! He's a God in his own right,

an agent of transformation.

 

That's why he wears the fancy coat

and always brings something to offer.

He does smell sacred.
