Fare Thee Well

Dearest, darling Dudley;
We will miss you dear girl.
Thank you for loving us through our hard times
and pointing us towards and sharing
the simple joys of so many days.
You are free now of the body that could no longer
serve your great and generous soul.
Your spirit rides the wind and brightens the sky.

  1. Fare thee well my own true love
    And farewell for a while.
I’m going away, but I’ll be back
If I go ten thousand miles.
Ten thousand miles, my own true love,
    Ten thousand miles or more,
And the rocks may melt and the seas may burn,
    If I should not return.
Oh don’t you see that lonesome dove,
    Sitting on an ivy tree,
She’s weeping for her own true love
Just as I shall weep for mine.
Oh come back my own true love
And stay a while with me
For if I had a friend all on this earth,
You’ve been a friend to me.
And fare thee well my own true love
    And farewell for a while.
I’m going away, but I’ll be back
If I go ten thousand miles.

  3. Aw, such a sweet post for what must have been a very sweet pup. <3

Have you read the poem, "The Rainbow Bridge"? It's really sweet... http://www.newrainbowbridge.com/NRB/rbpoem.htm

"By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

    For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together."

    Hugs! <3

  4. What a lovely, touching post. I can tell she was cherished and much loved. After all, what more can a dog ask for?
