Dog Psalm #18

After all the feasting,
the giving and receiving,

comes the time for reflecting and resting
and deciding how best to carry the Spirit of the season
throughout the new year

Behold

Miracles arrived at their appointed time.

The Seed Babe brings Glad Tidings.
His tiny hand reaches out to hold all of humanity.
His message - care for each other.
Share love. Have hope.

Holiday Snacking

Yes, Thank you. I do like cheese.

But I need a little help with the lid.
And sometimes the serving utensils are too big for me to handle.
I like it best at the nut bowl.

White Christmas

A few days ago I passed by the Santa tree and
he said that I would get my wish.
It would be a white christmas.

I was tempted not to believe him.  But trees never lie.

Overnight we got more than a foot
with drifts as high as three feet.

It's a winter wonderland!!

Ho. Ho. Ho.
Do I look like Santa with my snow beard?
I feel like him full of good cheer and happiness.

Return of the Squirrels

I heard clattering and though it might be Santa and the gang.
But it was just the squirrels again
working on their condo in the attic and walls.

Maybe they will set out the cookies and milk.

Nodding Off Near the Culture Cliff

Oh! Is the movie over?

I thought they might never stop their insipid yapping.
Why did I think Funny People would be funny?
I should know better by now.

Snow is Joy

Surrounding, abounding Joy.
Joy covering every thing -
every sorrow, every hurt
every branch and blade of grass.
Floating and piling,
pelting out Joy.
In crunchy steps,
That quiet hush,
The sloshy slush,
Announcing, insisting on Joy.
Snow is a shower of
Grace or Forgiveness.
Presenting us with
new realities,
perspectives and possibilities.
SNOW

How I Love Thee.

Furry flurry of Activity

I am moving at the

speed of

light.
It's not easy keeping up with Santa's elves.

We let the Wind

harvest for us.
All we must do is
be alert and pay attention,
with open minds and empty pockets,
as we roam
each day
through our
wondrous, bountiful
neighborhood.
Most of the wind's offerings
I recognize
as delicious treats. I seek crunch and tang.

She sees them as

pieces of a whole being
bodies, arms, heads, eyes
"the sum is more than the whole"

She seeks to
sustain transformational change.

I seek
the pattern of snacks,
and panting, patter, prancing of
the good life.
Each new day's greatness is up to you.
What do you seek? How do you choose?

Word Travels

Owl overheard Squirrel telling Penguin.
Penguin then confided in the Reindeer.
And then that blabby Penguin
got Rabbit and Mouse caught up.
Do you believe it? asked Mouse
I'm not sure that I do confessed Rabbit.

Then the Acorn Lady set the record straight.

WHO KNEW
word could travel so fast?
...

Curb your Enthusiasm

That's what the people tell me.
They also say that it's fine to be
marking, marking, marking all the time.

If I use good manners.
The curbside strip is best.  The gutter even better.
PLEASE no gifts by cars!

HEY!
I'm happy to oblige.
Maybe you'll notice and want me to play in your fenced back yard.
A little water would be good.
Might you have any KaChewKees to share?
Oops. Too much enthusiasm?

Dog Psalm 17

Fear knocks on the door.
Faith answers.

There was no one there.

Black Friday

Hold my hand rabbit.
Large crowds make me nervous.

Fear not Mouse. I'm right here with you.
Now try and look adorable and purchase-worthy.

Thanksgiving

Let there be gravy and community.
Let there be laughter and music.
Let there be feasting and grazing
and generous table scrap giving.

I am grateful for kindness, comfort and care.

Grateful for naps in the big comfy chair.

Dreaming of Elephants

I had a beautiful dream about a friendly elephant

whose "Big Top" was the clothes pin can.

Dreams can come true.

Dog Psalm 16: Three Wise Women

A great wind began to blow and howl.
The night was ink black with one piercing star lighting the way.
The three wise women knew it was time to begin a long journey
towards a great unknown. They ventured forth on faith.

They knew they had arrived at their destination when they discovered
the seed babe resting on a birch bark blanket.
Behold. The savior has arrived.
He reaches out for us to tell us
he needs us and to remind us we need him.

I thought he arrived in December.  But it seems he can arrive at anytime.

Has anybody seen

...my cousin, TatteredTail?
I thought I just saw him in here.

I Did, Squirrely.

He was involved in an unfortunate glue gun accident.
He should make a full recovery.
I saw him resting on the window sill.
- Thanks, Owl. I'll scamper on over.

Dog Psalm 15: The power of Myth

WONDERING

How could a mouse carry that enormous
4 armed
man-elephant-deity

He's hardly 4 inches tall.
He's remarkably sturdy even without feet
but still...
How is it possible? How can I believe?

an agent of transformation.

That's why he wears the fancy coat
and always brings something to offer.

He does smell sacred.

Ikebana not Eukanuba

Who knew?
She said "Ikebana". I thought she meant "Eukanuba" that delicious dog food.
I was being helpful when I brought it to my mat for a good chew.
I was wondering why she didn't tie it up in my KachewKee Wrapper.

The hand said NO. Get Away.
"This Ikebana is for looking. Not snacking."

I think I can remember that.
Pinecone Penguin would like live at your house.
