Porch Farming

Daily I encourage the plants.
Grow. Produce. Multiply.
My what lovely blossoms you have tomato.
How much I look forward to your sweet, red bounty.
Basil you are a true and steadfast friend. Reach for the sky.
Geranium, delicate but spicy scented one,
it is a pleasure to sit by you.

Quiet Mornings

on the porch.
Waiting for my friend the bumble bee to pass by so we can say hi,
while protecting marigolds and pinks
from marauding chipmunks.

Dog Psalm #43

The morning mist rises from the mountain.
Each wisp a prayer for peace and for love;
dispersed by the sun, absorbed by the day.

Midsummer's Eve

Tonight is the night that has traditionally
been set aside for high-spirited merrymaking.
Savor and celebrate life's simple pleasures.
Revel in all that Nature provides.
And tomorrow rise early in the morning
wander out into the yard
and put your nose
deep into a blossom that is heavy with dew
for it is legend that anyone who washes their face
in the dew of Midsummer's Day
will grow more lovely with the passing year.

Bulk Head

It is good to be king
of anything really,
but the bulk head in particular.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice

Today join the Druids and celebrate
the wedding of heaven and earth.
As the sun spirals its longest dance
Cleanse us
As nature shows bounty and fertility
Bless us
Let all things live with loving intent
And to fulfill their truest destiny

Dog Psalm #42

For the world is not painted or adorned
but is from the beginning beautiful;
and God has not made some beautiful things,
but Beauty is the creator of the universe.

Inspiration

doesn't always come.
Sometimes it must be conjured.

Hope is the delicate arch of color
that reaches through the darkness.

After the rain

I stop and smell the flowers.
Iris are the apple of my eye.
Dear sweet deep blue summer
so soft beneath my feet
I savour our days together.

Dog Psalm #40

Bird Song
I know what the birds say when they sing.
They talk about the sweet downy nest;
and the warmth and comfort
that is found between wing and breast;
how the wind is heaven's highway leading you home.

Andy and Me

Andy said people get 15 minutes of fame.
Which means dogs get 1 hour and 45 minutes.
So why not use a minute or two
in a pink imitation of pop art?
