Dog Psalm #31
The first day of Spring is one thing.
And the first Spring day is another.
The difference between them can be as great as a month.
In these days of longer light
bask in the sun when it can be found.
Watch for the bud and the sprouting seed
and despite any snow or mischievous sleet
believe...believe.

The Biggest Moon
in eighteen years
hovered just outside the door.
The vernal equinox slipped by
The daffodil days have arrived.
So I delight in them.

The Fifth Season
is the most marvelous season of all.
It is 'Mud Season'
That sweet, mushy time
between Winter and Spring.

Dear Japan,
I am watching over you.
as I hold you in my heart
bow to your courage
and keep you in my prayers

A Long March
The wintry weather drags on and on
beneath a dull grey sky.
The dirty snow mound means the snowplow guy
has scraped up the road along with the snow.
Hey Buddy, leave the road. We need the road.

Seeking
"One does not discover new lands
without consenting to lose sight of the shore
for a very long time." Andre Gide
I always keep one eye open
determined not to miss the first appearance of land.

Dog Psalm #28
When I am still
I can hear a great, quiet voice
gently remind me
Fear not, all is as it should be.
I do not need to cling or run.
Acceptance is the path to peace.

The Sap is Rising
The heat from the energy of the trees
melts a little circle around the base of their trunks.
A sure sign that their sap is rising
and Spring is on the way.
My sap rises for cookies and ball games.

Down Dog
Oh, did you mean "down dog" as in "get down off the bed?"
Well then how do you feel about a "puppy pose" on the yoga mats?
When I yoga I like to Svaroopa.
Why not let gravity do the work?
